This picture was taken in 1940 at Bloomington, Illinois just after we had competed in the State Grade School Band Competition. (We won a first place.)
The angelic-looking little cherub on the right end of the first row is Tommy McCrary (Peaches' li'l brother). Just to the left of the bass horn bell on the right, and second row from the back is a tall, distinguished young man named Bill Eckess. I am the short feller just to the left of him, with my hat set at a jaunty angle.
It was "the thing" then to belong to Ted Paschedag's Band, and many of the active kids in WF are a part of this pack.
